Alright, as promised, here are the details about the arrival of our little Marcos.
Brenda had been having the "mini contractions" for a number of weeks, so we assumed this kid would come out early. We had an appointment with the doctor on the 10th of March, and at that appointment we thought we would have a baby any day. Throughout the rest of that day and into the night Brenda kept having the contractions and I was just waiting for her to tell me it was time to go to the hospital, but that didn't happen. The next day, the contractions had slowed a fair amount. Friday came along and the contractions started again, which once again made me think I would be heading to the hospital but the same thing happened, they slowed down and we figured we still had to wait. Saturday all day there weren't many contractions but once again, Sunday all day she was having them but nothing was very painful yet to consider her finally being in labor. Monday the 15th then came along (my little sister's birthday by the way) and we had an appointment again with the doc. At the appointment he checked her and told us he wouldn't let her go home, that I was to take her straight to labor and delivery. We had Kelli with us so I dropped Brenda off at the hospital to get checked in, took Kelli home to stay with her Grandma, and went back to the hospital. By the time I got back they were just getting ready to give Brenda an epidural and get her going. As soon as the epidural had numbed her up, the doc broke her water and said he would be back in a few hours when she was ready. It didn't take more than about an hour and Brenda told the nurse that she felt like pushing. The nurse checked her, and almost frantically said, "Don't push, I'll page the doctor now." As soon as the doc showed up it was a matter of about 5-7 minutes and this little boy was born. He came out face up with an arm leading the way and that was it. He weighed 7 lb 14 oz and was 21.5 inches long. We are just very glad he came out with everything intact and that the labor and delivery went very well, we really can't even put a time on how long she was in labor because she really wasn't more than a very short time. Brenda and baby came home the next day and are doing great. The only problem with Marcos being born when he did was it interfered a little with my board exams. I had to take them on Tues and Wed the 16th and 17th so my mind wasn't perfectly clear and focused but we'll see how they turn out. I guess if I don't pass them this time I will have someone to blame it on! Without further delay I'll be quiet and post the pictures, enjoy!!
